Germany and Angola advance with a joint project in the area of hydrogen

Germany and Angola have created a joint office to work on projects in the area of hydrogen that will be presented in April, according to a statement from the German embassy in Angola released this Tuesday.

The German-Angolan hydrogen office, which will be known as H2 diplo, was one of the topics of the meeting between the German ambassador, Stefan Traumann, and the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, Manuel Nunes Júnior, which also addressed the relationship economy between the two countries.

The launch event of the H2 diplo is scheduled for the month of April within the scope of the 1st German-Angolan Hydrogen Symposium, with a series of events, studies, working group meetings and empowerment.

The objective of the H2 diplo Cabinet is to promote the development of opportunities in terms of hydrogen production, use and export, promoting the integration of the private sector in its activities.

"Ambassador Traumann highlighted the good economic relations between Germany and Angola, recently reinforced also by the visit of the then Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, in 2020", highlights the statement, noting that renowned German companies already operate in Angola, especially in the sectors, energy and infrastructure.

Angola and Germany intend to expand their bilateral relations and promote German investments in Angola, presenting the German-Angolan Hydrogen Office, which started the operation in 2022, as "an instrument on the path of diversifying the Angolan economy" and which also intends to support the energy transition process from fossil energy sources to renewable energies.

Angola is one of the main oil exporting countries in the world and also has very favorable conditions for the production of green hydrogen, which is produced 100 percent from renewable energy sources.
