TAAG cancels flights to São Paulo due to new strains of covid-19 in Brazil

The national airline TAAG canceled flights to São Paulo, Brazil, which it had planned to resume next Friday, due to the appearance of new strains of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes covid-19.

"TAAG - Linhas Aéreas de Angola hereby inform that, due to the recent evolution of the epidemiological situation and detection of new variants of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in the Federative Republic of Brazil, scheduled flights to Guarulhos have been canceled. , São Paulo, based on new guidelines from the Angolan authorities, taking into account the measures to prevent and control the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19 virus ", justifies the carrier.

The flight scheduled for Friday, March 19, 2021 and following, "until further notice" is canceled.

Angola announced last Thursday the lifting of the suspension of direct flights to Portugal, Brazil and South Africa, which had been interrupted since 16 January, due to the emergence of new strains of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The airline had meanwhile announced the resumption of scheduled flights with these countries, starting with Lisbon, this Wednesday, followed by São Paulo (Brazil), on the 19th, and Johannesburg (South Africa), on the 20th of March .
