MPLA responds to the opposition: “They just want to take the MPLA out of power, they are not concerned with the people”

The MPLA affirmed this Thursday that UNITA, Bloco Democrático and PRA-JA Servir Angola demonstrate a "programmatic disruption" that, it considers, intends to justify the "more than evident defeat in the next elections".

:

"We think that the reaction of this tripartite group reflects a programmatic disruption because it demonstrates that the only Government program, the only intention that moves them is just to take the MPLA out of power, they are not concerned with the Angolan people", said the spokesman of the MPLA Political Bureau, Albino Carlos, in an interview with Lusa.

For the politician of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), the opposition "is not concerned" with the political and social stability of the country and his reaction reveals an "attempt to conceal the internal problems they have".

UNITA "wants to divert the attention of national and international public opinion from the problems of strong internal opposition that its president is suffering and the lack of capacity to mobilize his electorate", he pointed out.

The presidents of the National Union for Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), Adalberto Costa Júnior, of the Democratic Bloc (BD), Justino Pinto de Andrade, and the political project coordinator of the Angola Renaissance Party - Together for Angola - Serving Angola (PRA -JA Servir Angola), Abel Chivukuvuku promoted, this Wednesday, a joint press conference, in Luanda, in which they presented a "Joint Political Declaration on the One-off Constitutional Review" announced last week by President João Lourenço.

They argued that the constitutional revision should enshrine, as a starting point, the "direct and free election" of the President of the Republic by all national citizens who are now aware that the current model for the election of the President "is atypical and discriminatory".

Abel Chivukuvuku accused the MPLA of being a "trick party that never won elections", considering that the constitutional revision proposal is "a mere cosmetic exercise" that "contains traps".

The BD leader considered, at the time, that the MPLA "should do an opposition cure to clean up the corruption itself", while UNITA pointed out the "unpopularity" of the MPLA "comrades" as the foundation of the constitutional review.

This Thursday, the MPLA spokesman devalued the accusations, referring that the arguments of the leader of PRA-JA Servir Angola "aim to hide the problems they have in terms of their constitution or institutionalization as a political force".

"It makes no sense, three years later, for Abel Chivukuvuku to claim issues that have already been overcome from the legal point of view, elections that have been legitimized not only by the international community but also by the bodies of national rights and policies," he noted.

"Not least because so far [PRA-JA Servir Angola] has not managed to go beyond a project and the Democratic Bloc, being in a dying phase, wants to harness itself to these forces in order to guarantee its political survival," said the spokesman. MPLA's voice.

Albino Carlos also denied the alleged unpopularity of his party and its leader and President, João Lourenço, saying that the MPLA "does not live by polls".

The best survey, he considered, "will be on election day when the Angolan people choose the party that is better able, better identified with the problems of the Angolan people".

For the politician of the ruling party, the opposition's arguments translate into "their psychological preparation in the sense of justifying the population with more than evident defeat in the next general elections".

"This is an attempt to start creating a climate of political instability for the defeat that we can imagine there, because the MPLA is preparing, diligently, for the Angolan people to renew their vote of confidence to lead the destiny of the country, "said Albino Carlos.

The official also argued: "The MPLA is the only force that is rooted among the people, it is the only force that is committed to solving the problems of the Angolan people and the only force concerned with the future of Angola and the Angolans".
