UNITA formalizes request for hearing on cyber attack to the Ministry of Finance

The Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) announced that it had requested a hearing from the finance and telecommunications ministers and the directors-general of the intelligence services due to the cyber attack against the Ministry of Finance.

:

In a press release released, the parliamentary group said that on Tuesday it sent to the office of the president of the National Assembly the "request for a hearing" to the ministers of Finance and Telecommunications, as well as to the directors-general of the Intelligence and Security Service the State and the External Intelligence Service.

"Several days have passed since the said cyber attack, nothing more has been communicated to the officials, much less to the citizens, something that worries the UNITA parliamentary group," the note said.

Last week, UNITA's bench leader, Liberty Chiaka, had announced his willingness to request the hearing of those responsible, pointing out that this was due to the "concern to understand the seriousness" of the cyber attack that the ministerial body was targeting.

The Ministry of Finance (Minfin) announced, on February 22, that the technological platform to support its activities with access to e-mails and shared folders was the target of a cyber attack on February 17, "with origins and motivations not identified ".

Notwithstanding the situation, Minfin said in a statement published on its website, the revenue collection systems, including the Services Portal, the Taxpayer Portal and the Integrated Financial Management System of the State, "are in full operation ".

Minfin ensured that the Public Finance Information and Communication Technologies Service (SETIC-FP) is identifying "the extent of the disturbance and the potential constraints caused by the Ministry of Finance's jobs and supervised bodies, especially the dematerialization program of internal and external correspondence ".

SETIC teams have been working since the attack on the "solution and normalization of the e-mail system and the shared documents folder, thus mitigating the impacts of such a situation on the productivity of Public Finance officials".

In the same document, UNITA refers that, in another letter, it also asked the Interior Minister for a hearing "due to the existence of militias" in the municipalities of Luanda and Cazenga, arguing that "many complaints have been made by citizens" of these places about the groups created and organized by the municipal administrator, Tomás Bica.

UNITA requested that, since these are "matters of a security nature, such as a violation of citizens' rights", the Defense, Security, Internal Order, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland and Human Rights will be present at this hearing. , Petitions, Complaints and Suggestions from Citizens.
