President appoints four new judges to the Court of Auditors

This Wednesday, the President of the Republic appointed four new judges for the Court of Auditors, to replace an equal number of magistrates who ended their term, according to a note from the presidency.

The note states that the appointments were made based on a proposal by the Superior Council for the Judiciary.

The head of State appointed Manuel José Domingos, Olinda Maria França and Arlete Maria Bolonhês da Conceição to Judges of the Court of Auditors.

The Court of Auditors has the competence to supervise the financial activity of the State and other public entities, and must issue an opinion on the General Account of the State, whenever requested by the National Assembly, and preventively inspect the legality of contracts that generate expense or represent liability. financial control of the State, among other matters.

Judges, president and vice president of the Court of Auditors, according to the legislation in force, can only serve a single term of seven years.

The president, vice-president and other advisory judges are appointed by the President of the Republic, from among magistrates and non-magistrates, for a single term of seven years.

An annual report on the activity of the Court of Auditors is prepared and submitted to the National Assembly and sent to the other sovereign bodies.

The Court of Auditors is currently chaired by Judge Exalgina Gamboa.
