According to the UNDP project officer in the southern region of Angola, João Neves, this is a project that requires institutional strengthening at the level of civil protection, the institution dedicated to responding to disasters.
João Neves also stressed that the installation of the eight meteorological stations aims at the implementation of an early warning system, based on the communities, that allows to make an early warning, when there is a situation of imminent catastrophe.
"We will identify the municipalities and locations where the stations will be installed and also create community groups, which will then work with us on this early warning system," said João Neves, speaking to public radio.
According to Angop, the project will be developed over four years.
