"We have everything outlined for the first lots to be distributed in June, to participate in the preparation of the next campaign 2021-2022," said the responsible, quoted by Novo Jornal.
Bernardo Salunbongo also advanced that the plots will be delivered "with irrigation system, soil preparation, everything done so that the young people arrive and simply plant".
In addition to being ready to sow, the lands, which will be delivered free of charge, also have an integrated housing structure.
"The State is creating these conditions to encourage young people to enter the agricultural sector because the State does not have conditions to employ everyone," elucidated the project manager.
The young people will only have to produce, harvest, and earn money, "then each one will follow his own path", he explained.
The products will be sold to Gesterra, and if production increases, the young people will be able to sell the products to other countries.
The first step to gain access to the initiative - which will make available plots of land of 5, 10, 20 and 50 hectares - is to show interest in farming, Novo Jornal reports. Those interested should have some agricultural notions, that is, be trained by the Agrarian Institute and, consequently, address themselves to the provincial agricultural direction or Gesterra.
The responsible also made it known that as of August, the project is no longer the responsibility of Gesterra: "The project has two years since its implementation, it began in August 2019 and ends this year in August 2021. After our management ends, it is up to the State to define to whom to hand it over," he said.
