Chinese businessmen concerned about “changes in politics and economy” in Angola

The Taizhou Chamber of Commerce in Angola hired a Chinese law firm to "better protect the rights and interests of its members" due to "changes in local politics and economics".

According to the Jiangsu Province Justice Department, adjacent to Shanghai, the Jiangsu Guanqian Law Firm will help "better protect the legal rights and interests" of members of the Chamber of Commerce.

The association has a "pivotal" role in the Angolan economy and has served as a "bridge of friendship" between China and Angola, but currently faces "a more complex situation", underlined a statement.

Zhu Xingya, executive director of Jiangsu Guanqian, has pledged to overcome cultural and linguistic difficulties to help the association deal with "legal disputes abroad".

The law firm wants to use Angola as a springboard to later extend legal coverage to other countries, added Zhu Xingya.

In December, China's ambassador to Angola, Gong Tao, had advised Chinese businessmen to step up investment in security due to the "recent deterioration in the public security environment".

The Taizhou Chamber of Commerce in Angola brings together businessmen with connections to the city of Taizhou, in Jiangsu province.

Jiangsu Jiangzhou Agricultural Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd invested US $ 12 million in the Jiangzhou Agriculture agricultural project in Huambo province.

The project generated 180 jobs in the cultivation of vegetables, fruit and cereals and in the creation of cattle in an area of 2544 hectares in the municipality of Chicala-Cholohanga.

A delegation from the Taizhou authorities visited Huambo in December 2019, and a group of businesspeople from the Angolan province visited China in late 2020. The initiative was canceled due to the covid-19 pandemic.
