Coronavirus: Angola concerned about situation in Portugal

The Secretary of State for Health was concerned this Sunday about the increased infection with the Covid-19 outbreak in Portugal and assured that authorities are monitoring any suspicious entry into the country.

"The cases are increasing, they are already over a hundred, no deaths for now, they have their problems too, nobody was [prepared] for the Covid-19," but "we are following the epidemiological evolution of Portugal, France, Spain, every day and at the right time there will be a positioning," Franco Mufinda said.

Five suspected cases (two Angolan citizens, one Portuguese, one Portuguese-Angolan and one French citizen) were recently tested and the results were negative, according to the secretary of state for public health.

Franco Mufinda also said 31 of the 57 people who were in the Calumbo quarantine center have been released from prison.

He called on citizens to cooperate in reporting suspicious cases through telephone terminal 111, especially those from Europe.

The number of confirmed cases in Portugal of infection with the new coronavirus, which causes Covid-19 disease, has risen to 245, 76 more than counted on Friday, and the suspect cases are now 2,271.

According to the Directorate General of Health (DGS), of the 2,271 suspected cases, 281 are awaiting laboratory results.

There are still 4,592 contacts under surveillance by the health authorities, less than on Saturday (5,011).
