"Up to this date we have managed to track 104 people (...), of which 99 have had a negative outcome, with five remaining that we are processing and we will have results within 48 hours," said Franco Mufinda to Radio Nacional de Angola, after a meeting the multisectoral technical commission created to monitor the evolution of the disease.
Franco Mufinda denied that there is currently any confirmed case in Angola, but acknowledged that there is growing "pressure" at the borders after cases have been confirmed in the Democratic Republic of Congo, on the north and east border and in Namibia, to the south.
He added that Angola no longer has the two quarantine centers it had at the moment, maintaining only the one in Calumbo, with 57 people (56 Chinese and one Angolan), while the one in Barra do Cuanza “is being prepared to receive eventual positive cases that may be confirmed in the country ”.
