The official explained that the release of census data "follows stages that are specific to international regulations", adding that after the general operation is carried out in 2024, they are now working on the first stage, which involves the release of preliminary data.
"At this point, we are working on the first stage, which is the release of preliminary data. We have it scheduled to be presented publicly in the second half of May," said the official, in statements to the press, quoted by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA).
Hernâni Luís indicated that after this phase, they will continue the work to present the definitive data.
"After this period of preliminary data, we will continue working exhaustively to be able to present the definitive data," he said, without giving dates for the presentation of the final results.
But before all this, the commission's spokesperson clarified that the presentation of the preliminary results will be preceded by a post-census survey, which aims to "calibrate the consistency" of the information collected. Quoted by Angop, Hernâni Luís reported that this investigation is a micro action and a United Nations regulation, scheduled to start in the next few days and covering only some municipal and communal areas.
On that occasion, he also spoke about payments to agents involved in carrying out the census. "We want to guarantee the following: everyone who worked on this operation, as census takers, as technical assistants (...) and has a contract signed with the National Statistics Institute should receive what is rightfully theirs. The payment process is taking place and is happening at a very specific speed, but one thing is certain, we will effectively settle everything that is in line with the contract that we signed with the different agents", he said, quoted by RNA.
The officer was speaking after the 21st meeting of the aforementioned commission, which took place under the guidance of the Minister of State and head of the Military Household of the President of the Republic, Francisco Pereira Furtado and served to review the work carried out throughout the census process.
