"The section of the Bridge over the Kwanza River/Cabo Ledo, on the National Road EN 100, in the province of Icolo and Bengo, will benefit from rehabilitation works valued at over 50 billion kwanzas, according to Presidential Order No. 59/25 of 13 February", informed the Government, in a statement to which VerAngola had access.
According to the diploma – cited in the statement –, "the rehabilitation of the road, which is 41 kilometers long, is urgent and rapid, as it is in a state of severe degradation and with rapid progression of ravines, causing numerous constraints".
Aiming to improve the quality of life of the population, the works on the EN 100 will not only "improve road safety for users", but will also reduce "travel time between the province of Luanda and the municipalities of Quiçama and Porto Amboim.
"The precarious conditions of this stretch, of great economic and social importance, in addition to putting commercial exchanges, agricultural, livestock and mining activities at risk, also affect the transportation of medicines, school supplies, food and other products to various points in the South and Center of the country," says the statement.
The project is budgeted at more than 59 billion kwanzas, while the inspection is over one billion kwanzas.
"The Minister of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing is delegated competence, with the power to subdelegate, for the approval of the parts of the procedure, verification of the validity and legality of all acts carried out within the scope of said procedure, as well as for the celebration and signature of the corresponding contracts", says the note, which adds that it is up to the Ministry of Finance to ensure the "financial resources necessary for the implementation of the contracts".
