According to the Government, in a statement to which VerAngola had access, the road will be more than 30 kilometers long.
"To alleviate heavy traffic on national roads 120, 260, 352 and 538, a circular road (Phase 1) with a length of 37.30 kilometres will be built in the province of Huambo", budgeted at more than 228 billion kwanzas, according to presidential order no. 51/25, of 6 February.
"The circular road will also be a fundamental solution to alleviate congestion in the urban center of the city of Huambo, which has hampered road safety and the mobility of citizens," the statement reads.
In addition, the future road will also provide "better access to the Caála Industrial Hub and facilitate the flow of agricultural and commercial products, in order to boost the economic development of the region".
In addition to the more than 228 billion earmarked for the construction of the new road, the State will also disburse more than 7.5 billion kwanzas for "the preparation of studies and coordination of the work", while the project's inspection services have a budget of more than 3.4 billion kwanzas.
"The Minister of Public Works, Urban Planning and Housing has been delegated the power to approve, validate, conclude and sign contracts," the statement reads.
While the Ministry of Finance must guarantee the "financial resources necessary for the execution of contracts".
The aforementioned presidential order also authorizes the "registration of projects in the OGE/PIP".
