Also part of the delegation are the president of the Board of Directors (PCA) of the National Waste Agency, Nelma Caetano, the director of the Institute of Environmental Management, Hassana Lima, the director of Climate Action and Sustainable Development, Cecília Bernardo, the director of the Institute National Biodiversity and Conservation, Miguel Xavier, as well as consultants and protocol members.
The delegation has been in Nairobi since last Saturday. "Moments after her arrival, last Saturday, the Minister of the Environment presided over a consultation meeting, in which ambassador Sianga Abílio explained about the preparatory process for the event, with emphasis on the results of the Open Committee of Permanent Representatives meeting with the Program of United Nations for the Environment - UNEP, which took place from 19 to 23 February 2024, at the United Nations complex in Nairobi, which served to prepare the sixth United Nations Assembly on the Environment (UNEA-6)", which began this Monday, says the statement.
According to the note, over the four days of the event, the various participants "should analyze probable adoption, 19 draft resolution proposals, two draft decision proposals and a Ministerial Declaration".
It should be noted that the assembly takes place under the motto "Effective, Inclusive and Sustainable Multilateral Actions to Combat Climate Change, Biodiversity Loss and Pollution".
