The official highlighted the similarities between all countries in the region, which make them vulnerable to the negative effects of climate change. Thus, she announced the Angolan government's intentions to adapt a set of priorities integrated into the sustainable development programs and strategies aligned with the United Nations.

She highlighted the National Strategy for Climate Change, which includes a pillar dedicated to systemic research and observation, aiming to expand the country's technical, scientific, and institutional capacity, promoting the monitoring of the national climate system.

The minister also stated that Angola has identified priority initiatives and defined goals, including the expansion and harmonization of the National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics' network of meteorological observation stations, with the installation of 45 new observation units by 2035.

She also mentioned that another initiative involves characterizing the country's current climate and continuously assessing variability and trends in temperature, precipitation, and extreme weather events.

Future climate scenarios for the country will also be generated based on global climate models, and a national methodology for assessing climate vulnerabilities will be established, expanding the country's coverage with early warning systems.

Ana Paula de Carvalho spoke on the panel about "Ministerial Policy Dialogue: The Importance of the Relationship between Artificial Intelligence and Climate Action."

The Ordinary Session of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment is organized by the United Nations Environment Programme.

"Participants are optimistic about creating a platform to strengthen Africa's collective engagement in the global environmental agenda," said a statement from the Ministry of Environment, seen by VerAngola.
