State raised more than 47 billion kwanzas with privatization of 11 assets in 2023

The Secretary of State for Finance and Treasury, Ottoniel dos Santos, reported that the State raised 47,9 billion kwanzas with the privatization of 11 assets in 2023, within the framework of the Privatization Program (Propriv). According to the person responsible, among the assets sold include assets from the Special Economic Zone (ZEE) and the national oil company.

"In 2023, 11 assets worth, in commitment contracts, approximately 47,9 billion kwanzas were privatized, with emphasis on the assets sold in the Special Economic Zone (ZEE) and the assets that were under the responsibility of Sonangol", it reads in a statement from the Ministry of Finance, to which VerAngola had access.

Speaking within the scope of the fifth meeting of the Propriv Interministerial Committee, which took place this Tuesday and was guided by José de Lima Massano, Minister of State for Economic Coordination, Ottoniel dos Santos explained that from the list of assets sold, two of the national oil company related to oil production, worth 41 billion kwanzas, over the total amount allocated.

Furthermore, among the assets sold, the highlight also falls on the ZEE assets, especially Indutubos, worth 1850 million kwanzas, writes Angop.

The deputy coordinator of Propriv also made it known that this year Propriv intends to "accelerate the disposal processes adjacent to privatization through an initial public offering, with emphasis on Banco Fomento Angolano (BFA) and Unitel".

For this year, according to a statement from the Institute for Management of State Assets and Participations (IGAPE), at the meeting, the commission also considered the prospect of implementing the privatization program for the period 2024-2026, "which provides for the privatization of 31 assets during the year 2024, with emphasis on ACREP, Ensa, Bodiva, Standar Bank Angola and TV Cabo, through an initial public offering, in addition to 39 hotels from the UI, IKA and BINA network, via electronic auction".

Another of the highlighted points was related to the assessment of the proposal to update Propriv, "having decided to include five new assets and withdraw 21 assets".
