Video surveillance system will be implemented at the country's borders

The country will implement a video surveillance system at national borders. According to Vera Daves, Minister of Finance and also coordinator of the committee of ministers and heads of coordinated border management bodies – which held its 4th ordinary session this Monday – “the foundations have been laid and the conditions have been created” so that this year “will be marked by the promotion of a set of initiatives within the scope of the restructuring and modernization of national borders”.

To this end, the minister said that they intend to implement strategic projects, such as the video surveillance system, but also scanners at the main borders, one-stop border posts, among others.

"We believe that the foundations have been laid and the conditions created for this year to be marked by the promotion of a set of initiatives within the scope of restructuring and modernizing national borders, through the combination of our efforts, aiming at the implementation of strategic projects, with I highlight the installation of scanners at the main borders, the creation of one-stop border posts, video surveillance systems and the integration of the bodies' IT systems, taking advantage of public infrastructures such as the capabilities of the national satellite and others in terms of telecommunications", said Vera Daves, quoted by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA).

According to the official, the objective is to guarantee "the implementation of concrete measures within the scope of trade facilitation, as well as the prevention, repression and combating of infractions".

The Minister of the Interior, Eugénio Laborinho, also cited by RNA, said that the practice of "various cross-border crimes continues, such as money laundering, trafficking in strategic minerals and fuel, assistance to illegal immigration, illegal fishing " which requires "the reinforcement of actions to prevent and repress these acts, through the action of forces from different sectors, with the application of modern means and effective mechanisms".
