The opening ceremony of the new judicial year, which was scheduled for Wednesday, under the motto "For the Implementation of Administrative and Financial Autonomy to Strengthen the Efficiency and Effectiveness of the Courts", had in its preliminary program that the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, would speak.
The justice sector has faced a crisis in recent days, with scandals involving judges and the president of the Supreme Court, allegedly linked to corruption cases, as well as the forced removal of the president of the Court of Auditors.
On Monday night, the president of the Court of Auditors, Exalgina Gambôa, presented the President of the Republic with a request for "early retirement", invoking "health reasons" that interfere "negatively" in the exercise of her functions.
Exalgina Gambôa's request, to which Lusa had access, comes after the President publicly announced, through the Angolan presidency page, that he invited the counselor judge to resign from her mandate on February 21, without her having done so yet. .
