Téte António and Belgian counterpart analyze the state of bilateral collaboration

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, and his Belgian counterpart, Hadja Lahbib, held a meeting this Wednesday, where they analyzed the point of bilateral collaboration.

Among the topics discussed is the strengthening of collaboration in the political, economic, energy, transport, mine clearance, mining and port sectors, writes Angop.

Furthermore, according to Angop, the ministers also spoke about the functioning of the Joint Commission and reviewed current regional and international issues.

On the occasion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs referred that the hearing represents an opportunity to analyze the fruits of collaboration and recognize ways to overcome possible constraints.

Cited by Angop, Téte António also mentioned the Joint Commission, having highlighted its contribution in promoting political dialogue on international issues and in creating conditions for deepening collaboration.

On her turn, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Foreign Trade and Cultural Institutions of Belgium, praised Angola's role in favor of peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, having also recalled the heading of the memorandum on political consultations, signed in 2018, in the Belgian capital, writes Angop.

Belgian ruler received by João Lourenço

According to a note from the Presidency of the Republic, which VerAngola had access to, Hadja Lahbib was received, this Wednesday, in Luanda, by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.

Leaving the meeting, the Belgian minister said that "issues of common interest" and international geopolitics were addressed.

"We discussed with the President of the Republic issues of common interest and also of international geopolitics", she said, quoted in the note.

In addition, the minister also mentioned that the "war in Ukraine and the conflict in eastern DRC were current issues also discussed with the Angolan Head of State, at the same meeting that also dealt with economic issues", adds the note.

According to Angop, at the meeting, Belgium's interest in collaborating with Angola in the field of renewable energies was also expressed, with the Belgian official also advancing that her country intends to collaborate in the exploration of the port of Lobito and mining, in Benguela.

It should be noted that Hadja Lahbib is in Luanda for a 72-hour visit to Angola, at the invitation of her Angolan counterpart, Téte António.

Alongside the meetings with Téte António and João Lourenço, the Belgian official's agenda also foresees a meeting with Jeannette Seppen, ambassador of the European Union in Angola, and Zahira Virani, resident coordinator of the United Nations System in the country.
