For the eighth day in a row, there were no deaths.

The new cases, between the ages of 2 and 41, were identified in the provinces of Cunene, Huambo and Zaire, with nine people considered to have recovered from the disease during this period.

The records are in line with the trend in February, in which there has been a significant reduction in the number of cases.

Angola has 98,701 cases of covid-19, of which 96,622 have recovered from the disease, 180 are active and 1,899 have died, with four patients hospitalized.

On Tuesday, the multisectoral commission to combat covid-19 announced that it will propose that it is no longer mandatory to present a negative test in public sectors or in any other establishment and that the vaccine certificate will be required, to reverse the resistance framework to vaccination.

The coordinator of the commission, Francisco Furtado, said that he would propose that the mandatory submission of tests to covid-19 end, with citizens being required to present the vaccination certificate with both doses or with a single dose from Johnson & Johnson.

"In this way, we will give priority to the use of tests in hospital units, access to air and land borders and implement some rigorous measures to force the population to vaccinate more", said Furtado, in statements broadcast by public radio. Angola, at the end of the commission's weekly balance sheet meeting.

Francisco Furtado noted the reduction in the incidence rate from 1.7 percent in January to 0.1 percent in the current month, but also pointed to the "negative behavior of the population" that does not want to be vaccinated and has failed to use it properly of masks and biosecurity measures.

The also head of the Military House of the President of the Republic stressed that January was the best month in terms of vaccination, since the beginning of the process in the country, with the registration of more than 3.2 million doses administered.

Francisco Furtado said that, although they are thinking of proposing the relief of some measures, it is necessary to worsen the vaccination chapter.

At this point, more than four million people still have not taken the first dose and more than five million have missed the second dose, according to the same official.
