Inflation rises again in January and reaches 27.66 percent

The National Consumer Price Index (IPCN) stood at 27.66 percent in January 2022, registering an increase of 3.25 percentage points compared to the same period last year, according to the National Institute of Statistics of Angola.

This was the 11th month of consecutive rises in the IPCN, according to the Quick Information Sheet to which Lusa had access.

The IPCN registered a variation of 2 percent from December 2021 to January 2022. Comparing the monthly variations (December 2021 to January 2022) there is a deceleration of 0.10 percentage points while, in year-on-year terms (January 2021 to January 2022), there is an acceleration in the current variation of 3.25 percentage points.

Comparing the current year-on-year change with that recorded in the previous month, there was an acceleration of 0.63 percentage points.

The "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" class contributed the most to the increase in the general level of prices, with 1.34 percentage points during the month of January, followed by the classes: "Miscellaneous goods and services" with 0, 13 percentage points, "Furniture, household equipment and maintenance" with 0.10 percentage points and "Transport" with 0.08 percentage points.
