Debajeet Mukherjee, in declarations to the Jornal de Angola, said that other projects are being thought and that, if they don't appear, the implementation of the ventures in the portfolio should create 380 new jobs, in a time horizon of three years.
Considering that the new center will also help to increase the storage and sale capacity of pharmaceuticals in the country, the responsible stressed that "similar projects are in view to be installed soon in the cities of Huambo, Malanje, Benguela, Lubango and Saurimo". This expansion aims to contribute "to the supply of drugs and expansion of the population's access to medicines," he said.
Also in an interview with Jornal de Angola, Elinete Dias, 4th year student of the Pharmaceutical Sciences course at the Jean Piaget University and one of the 60 young people who got their first job at the center, welcomed the measure and admitted that "besides providing other valences, the center guarantees youth employability, to raise living conditions.
"I'm very happy, I appreciate the opportunity given to me," he added.
The center, implemented in the country by the Indian company Shalina Healthcare, was inaugurated last month. At the time, Délcio Pedro, assistant municipal administrator for the Economic and Financial Sphere of Cacuaco, considered that the undertaking will help to promote youth employment as well as assisting the health sector of that municipality.
The enterprise, considered to be one of the largest drug storage and distribution centers in the country, is budgeted at 17 million dollars and was installed in an area of 10 thousand square meters. The center, capable of storing about 2000 palettes of medicines, is composed of modern equipment for unloading, storage and dispatch of drugs.
