Prodesi has already created more than 40 thousand jobs in the country

The Program to Support Production, Export Diversification and Import Substitution (Prodesi), launched in late 2019, has already created more than 40,000 jobs nationwide since its implementation.

The information was advanced by Mário Caetano João, Secretary of State of Economy, who revealed that the program generated a total of 46,133 jobs, of which 5,000 were created at the beginning of this year.

Cited by Angop, Mário Caetano João explained that many of the projects approved under the scope of PRODESI were responsible for contributing for the job creation in the country and advanced that other projects ended up not being approved for presenting insufficiencies in the economic feasibility studies, lack of real guarantees, among other irregularities.

About the support for sales in the domestic market, the Secretary of State for the Economy said that the Ministry launched a portal for national production that, at the moment, has 9469 registered producers. However, the ministry's goal is to reach 500 thousand producers registered, he said.

Among the provinces that have most used the portal are Huíla with 1556 registered producers, followed by Bié, with 1448, and Huambo, with 1444 producers.

Regarding future perspectives, Mário Caetano João mentioned the Informal Economic Reconversion Program, which intends to formalize micro-entrepreneurs.

According to him, this year, in the space of about two months, 603 micro-entrepreneurs were formalized out of a planned universe of 750. However, the goal is to formalize, until 2022, more than two thousand micro-entrepreneurs.

Since the beginning of the year, several projects valued at about 280 million kwanzas and 83 requests for micro-credits have also been validated. He also said that the 83 approved projects are spread over the provinces of Benguela (22), Luanda (22), Huila (14), Namibe (13) and Huambo (12).

He also indicated that the Government is developing strategies that aim to stimulate local production. Among the ongoing strategies is the implementation of programs, through the Angolan Development Bank.
