Isabel dos Santos used American tax haven to register luxury apartment in Lisbon

Entrepreneur Isabel dos Santos used an American tax haven to register a luxury apartment, valued at 1.8 million dollars, located in the portuguese capital. According to the research consortium responsible for the 'Luanda Leaks' exhibition, the apartment was registered through a company located in Delaware, USA, a state that is considered one of the world's most secret tax havens.

The latest revelation in the 'Luanda Leaks' case reports that Isabel dos Santos and her husband own a luxury apartment located in Lisbon, through Decade International LCC - a company registered in Delaware, USA.

Although the documents linked to 'Luanda Leaks' do not reveal the reasons why the entrepreneur decided to set up a company in that state, the consortium of journalists, cited by the newspaper Jornal Económico, states that the state of Delaware is one of the easiest places in the world to set up fake companies, since it does not share or publish information about the owners or shareholders of the companies set up there, thus allowing the anonymity of those involved.

The same newspaper also states that there are records, including e-mails, invoices, accounts and tax assessments that give a detailed description of the Lisbon property and the American company. These records were obtained by the Platform for the Protection of Whistleblowers in Africa and later shared with the consortium.

The apartment is located in one of the most central areas of the portuguese capital. Located on Avenida António Augusto de Aguiar, the property overlooks Parque Eduardo VII. In addition, the apartment, considered a luxury one, is valued at 1.8 million dollars, has 230 square meters and three parking spaces.

The couple has several properties spread around the world: Luanda, Monaco, Dubai, London and Lisbon. In the portuguese capital, the ex-president's daughter has two luxury apartments, located near Parque Eduardo VII.
