The accident involved a truck, which was on the Namibe/Lubango route, and the vehicle was hit by three vehicles, causing its total destruction.
According to a spokesman for the local Civil Protection and Fire Service, Inocêncio Hungulo, the injured are receiving assistance at Lubango central hospital.
He said the victims stayed under the truck's cargo container and a crane had to be used in the rescue operation.
"About the accident, we are assuming the loss of brakes, until other causes are investigated," Inocêncio Hungulo said in a statement to Angolan public radio.
Road accidents are the second cause of death in the country, after malaria.
