Angola and UN Tourism sign agreement to attract new investments and promote national tourism potential

Angola and UN Tourism have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at attracting new investments and promoting the country's tourism potential. The agreement was signed this Thursday in Madrid, the Spanish capital, where the Minister of Tourism, Márcio Daniel, and a delegation from the ministry are meeting for a five-day tour of Europe.

With the signing of this agreement, the country "takes another firm step towards strengthening tourism", says the Ministry of Tourism, in a statement to which VerAngola had access.

"The agreement signed with UN Tourism aims to attract new investments and promote the tourism potential of our country on a global level", explains the ministry, which adds that this milestone reinforces the country's commitment to becoming "an increasingly competitive and sustainable destination on the international stage".

"We intend to attract investment and create all the conditions to become a destination on par with the largest in the world", said Márcio Daniel, adding that "the support of UN Tourism is essential" to achieve this goal.

According to a press release, cited by Angop, the head of the Tourism portfolio also said that it is an "honor" for the country to "count on the support" of this entity: "It is an honor for Angola to count on the support of this organization, taking into account which is in a decisive phase for the growth of the sector".

In turn, Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of UN Tourism, said that the agreement symbolizes a significant milestone for the country, as it will help promote the sustainable development of the tourism sector.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Tourism, to which VerAngola had access, the department is carrying out a tour of Europe, where it is looking for partnerships.

"The Minister of Tourism, Márcio de Jesus Lopes Daniel, and a high-level delegation from the supervising ministry, are in Madrid, Spain, for a five-day tour of Europe", the note says, adding: "With the aim to present Angola's tourism potential, with special emphasis on the Cabo Ledo and Calandula Tourism Development Hubs, the Angolan Okavango Region and Mussulo, the mission seeks to find international partners who intend to invest in the Tourism sector in Angola".

According to the Ministry, during his visit, the Minister of Tourism has "confirmed meetings with some of the largest hospitality industry chains worldwide, tour operators and businesspeople, who will be in the Spanish capital, where the largest International Tourism Fair, FITUR, will be held from 21 to 26 January, and where the main event of the 50th anniversary of the World Tourism Organization - UN Tourism, an organization of which Angola has been a member since 1989, will also take place".

After Spain, the minister will move to London, in the United Kingdom, "where he will have meetings with the company DAR, specialized in Engineering and Project Management, a partner of MINTUR in the implementation of the National Tourism Planning Plan and the Tourism Development Plan of Península do Mussulo", ending the mission in Frankfurt, Germany, where Márcio Daniel and the delegation will "hold working meetings with the Kleber Group, a tour operator specialized in managing tourist destinations and developing products".
