Angola with more than 600 cases of confirmed cholera but without death registration in the last 24 hours

The Ministry of Health said on Monday that 36 more cases of cholera were reported in the last 24 hours, without registration of dead, increasing the total to 612 cases distributed by four provinces.

Luanda remains the most affected province, with 23 new records in the last 24 hours, of which 18 in the municipality of Cacuaco, epicenter of the outbreak declared on January 7.

Ten cases were also reported in the province of Icolo and Bengo and three in Bengo province, while Malanje had no new records.

Currently 80 people with anger are hospitalized.

In total, they have been accounted for from the beginning of the outbreak 612 cases, aged between 2 and 81 years, being the age group most affected by 2 to 9 years of age with 155 cases and 10 of the 29 deaths already due to the disease .

On the weekend, the Minister of Health, Silvia Lutucuta, said she intends to have the outbreak of controlled anger until March, through the realization of community work and health promotion, drinking water supply, elimination of garbage outbreaks, treatment early cases and acquisition of vaccines.

Government entities and Angolan Armed Forces set up small hydration centers in the most critical areas, as well as cholera treatment centers.
