President calls former MPLA deputy to State Inspector General

The President, João Lourenço, dismissed, this Monday, Ângelo da Veiga Tavares from the position of Inspector General of State Administration, appointing former MPLA deputy João Manuel Francisco Pinto to his place.

In the press release announcing the change, the reasons for the removal of Ângelo da Veiga Tavares, who had been appointed less than seven months ago, are not explained.

University professor and former deputy of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) João Francisco Pinto, who served four consecutive terms and was vice-president of the party's parliamentary group, was not elected for the 2022-2027 legislature.
