According to the governor, the BNA's commitment involves preserving the value of the kwanza in order to ensure price balance.

In statements to the press – cited by Jornal de Angola – after visiting Menongue, in Cuando Cubango, Manuel António Dias also said that the kwanza is a currency with liberatory power in the country and is accepted in neighboring countries, adding that the central bank, as an entity that ensures the balance of prices in the economy, it must act to reduce inflation.

Thus, he stated: "The BNA has increased responsibilities for reducing inflation in the country, but it is necessary for the Angolan Executive to realize that price stability in the national economy essentially depends on the local production of goods and services".

According to the governor, the institution he supervises "has embraced all initiatives that aim to increase the levels of production of goods and services at national level, with greater emphasis on food products".

"The kwanza was introduced into the national market as the payment instrument in our economy since the beginning. During its validity it has gone through periods characterized by ups and downs, with changes in the name of the currency itself", he stated, quoted by Jornal de Angola.

Manuel António Dias also considered that, "despite the less good periods, the country continues to have the kwanza as the currency with liberating power at national level".

Among other aspects, the BNA governor also mentioned that the central bank has been guiding commercial banks to open branches throughout the national territory.

"In the coming days, the BNA, in partnership with commercial banks, will carry out an assessment of the services provided by branches and banking correspondents, in order to determine whether they have met the expectations generated by the expansion of banking services across the national territory", he indicated, quoted by Jornal de Angola.

The governor also mentioned that the expansion of this type of services is essential, considering "its contribution to greater integration of the population with banks".

During his visit to Cuando Cubango, which served to verify the functioning of the BNA Regional Delegation on site, the BNA governor was received by the provincial governor, José Martins, in an audience.
