SOMILUANA forecasts a monthly production of 12,000 carats of diamonds

The Sociedade Mineira de Luana (SOMILUANA) forecasts a monthly production of around 12,000 carats of diamonds, starting in the first quarter of this year. Forecasts therefore point to an increase compared to 2022, when 10,000 carats were produced per month.

In this regard, Guilherme Raimundo, deputy director of the mine, quoted by Angop, said that to achieve this objective, the company plans to carry out an investment of around 35 million dollars for obtaining state-of-the-art equipment, complementing that with this investment it is expected to reach a production of around 18 thousand carats until December.

As for the predictions for 2022, Guilherme Raimundo revealed that more than half (88 percent) had been executed by November, writes Angop.

The mine's corporate structure - which has 671 workers (94 percent nationals and the remaining six percent expatriates) - is made up of Endiama (39 percent), Trans-Hex group THG (33 percent), with the remaining 28 percent divided by Wenji, Zakufuna and Caxinge.

Extending over 444 square kilometres, SOMILUANA has a reserve of more than two million carats of resources, exploring diamonds alluvial in the Luana river basin, writes Angop.
