Lunda Sul starts with the first specialization course for nurses in the eastern region

The province of Lunda Sul will start to specialize nurses. Thus, for this purpose, the General Hospital of the province will soon start with the first specialization course for nurses in the eastern region – provinces of Lunda Sul, Lunda Norte and Moxico.

In terms of vacancies, according to Angop, 150 are available for the above-mentioned provinces in training for midwives, anesthetists, nursing, intensive care, instrumentalists and childcare, which will last two years.

Lunda Sul was selected as the seventh training center for nurses in Angola, to the satisfaction of local professionals who will no longer need to travel to other provinces in search of specialization, as Viegas de Almeida, director of the Provincial Health Office told Angop.

For the success of the specialization, advanced the official, a visit by the Institute of Specialization in Health has been scheduled for the province, which will announce the start date of the training, writes Angop.

Furthermore, the official, quoted by Angop, also took the opportunity to refer to the specialization of more than 70 doctors. Started two years ago, at Hospital Geral da Lunda Sul (HGLS) - which encompasses the provinces of the eastern zone -, in the areas of neonatology, orthopedics, anesthesia, intensive care, obstetrics and resuscitation, training is taking place at a good pace, he said.

In this sense, in November last year, the internship rotation began in the capital's reference hospital units, such as Josina Machel, David Bernardino, as well as the Specialization Center for the Treatment of Endemics and Pandemics and the Huambo Sanatorium, writes Angop.

In addition, taking into account the absence of certain specialties at HGLS, 11 doctors were referred to specialize elsewhere (six in the capital in neurosurgery, cardiology, pediatrics and dermatology; one for Portugal in obstetrical gynecology; two for Brazil in imaging and nephrology and two for Huambo in pediatrics).

To Angop, the official also said that within about a year and six months, the province will have trained professionals at local level, who will improve assistance to the population.
