PGR drops one of the cases against Isabel dos Santos

The Attorney General's Office (PGR) withdrew from one of the three civil proceedings brought against Isabel dos Santos, as it understands that the facts contained therein coincide with the criminal proceedings that are taking place simultaneously against the businesswoman.

:

In a note released this Wednesday, the PGR states that the civil actions were initiated after an arrest warrant decreed in 2019, having been separated according to the matters and the complexity of the facts.

They then gave rise to three declaratory judgment actions that are taking place in court, namely cases 103/2020, 278-20-E and 35/2020 G, with the PGR giving up on the latter.

The PGR justifies the withdrawal because "the facts narrated therein were simultaneously the object of a criminal proceeding whose preparatory instruction is being processed by the National Directorate of Investigation and Criminal Action, under No. 10/20-DNIAP".

The PGR also added that the seizure of the assets of Isabel dos Santos, daughter of former president José Eduardo dos Santos, and people related to her, "did not expire and was not lifted due to the fact that the two declaratory actions of conviction continue to run the its legal procedures".
