Paper balance inquiry will actually cost 20 kwanzas (but only in a few months)

The measure announced in Instruction No. 24/2021 of 7 December of the National Bank of Angola (BNA) will even come into force in the country. However, the payment of 20 kwanzas for each paper balance inquiry at the multicaixa will still take “two or three months” to be implemented.

Ampe Rogério:

The information is provided by Expansão, which cites a source in the sector. The measure, which introduced changes to the functioning of the national multicaixa network, is dependent on an update of the system, which may take some time to complete (about two to three months).

It is recalled that the instruction, which came into force in December, specifies that a maximum of 20 kwanzas may be charged per balance inquiry or paper account movements, after five such operations. In relation to the amount to be charged, each bank may apply the rate it wishes, as long as it does not exceed this maximum amount.

Another of the changes implemented involves the collection of commissions on purchase operations with the multicaixa card, in Automatic Payment Terminals (TPA). For snakes worth more than 2000 kwanzas, an amount will be charged, which must not exceed one percent of the purchase price, up to a maximum of 9000 kwanzas. In purchases of less than 2000 kwanzas, the value must not exceed 10 kwanzas.

So, in practical terms – explains Expansão – payments up to 1999 kwanzas will pay a fee in kwanzas, and payments with amounts between 2000 and 900,000 kwanzas will pay one percent of the purchase amount. For amounts over 900,001 kwanzas, a fee of 9000 kwanzas will be applied.
