João Lourenço guarantees support to flood victims

President Joao Lourenço sympathized with the flood victim’s families due to the heavy rain and assured that the authorities would provide support to the affected citizens.

Ampe Rogério:

"Our solidarity goes to the Angolan families who are victims of the floods, resulting from the rains that yesterday hit some cities and localities of the country, with particular violence on Luanda”, wrote the chief executive on his Twitter page. João Lourenço assured that “all support will be provided by the authorities”.

According to the Luanda Provincial Civil Protection Commission, the floods that plagued the capital on Saturday made a deadly victim, a seven-year-old child dragged by the water current in Viana. In addition to the death toll, 208 homes have been flooded and 250 families are homeless.

The National Institute of Meteorology (INAMET) forecasts heavy rains for Luanda next week, prompting the Luanda Provincial Government to call on people living in risk zones to prevent themselves and not dump garbage in ditches.
