MISA Angola states that the "Raise the Fist" journey is a "cry" in the face of the current reality in Angola, embodied in the narrowing of freedoms, "in particular that of the press", and the distortion of journalism to the detriment of propaganda.
In a statement released this Thursday, the Institute highlights that the protest, on December 17th, in Luanda, will also be against the obstacles to journalism that seeks and verifies facts with a critical sense and the "almost compulsive movement of experienced and less manageable journalists, replaced by newcomers and interns".
According to the regional non-governmental organization, also with representation in Angola, in the country there is interference in editorial criteria, weakening of provisions, such as regulation and self-regulation, an informative trend that represents less and less the different realities of the country.
In Angola, there is still a "permanent strategy of dividing to reign better", the statement says.
According to the MISA Angola governance council, journalists, other media actors, civil society and interested parties must participate in this act in favor of a plural, independent and diverse media.
