Speaking to Lusa, the spokesperson for the Civil Protection and Fire Service, Maina Panzo, said that a 15-year-old boy died in the Capalanga neighborhood, municipality of Viana, on Tuesday, when he was swept away by the force of the waters leaving the school.
The storm caused the loss or damage to 25 houses, leaving 105 families homeless, and a lighting post and two trees were also reported to have fallen, according to the same person responsible.
In the capital, the scene over the last two days is one of flooded houses and flooded roads that make access to different areas of the city difficult.
According to Maina Panzo, civil protection and the provincial government are working to desilt and clean the drainage ditches, and the rain should still be felt in the next few hours.
The National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics (INAMET) predicts moderate to heavy rain, with the likelihood of thunderstorms in some municipalities in the province of Bengo and moderate rain, with the likelihood of thunderstorms in some municipalities in the provinces of Luanda, Cabinda, Uíge and Cuanza Sul.
The forecasts are also for rain for the other provinces of the country.
