João Lourenço travels to Equatorial Guinea to participate in the ECCAS Summit

The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, traveled this Friday to Equatorial Guinea, to participate in the Summit of the Economic Community of Central African States (CEEAC). The head of state is already in the city of Djibloho, where the summit will take place this Friday.

According to Angop, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, the Angolan ambassador, José Luís de Matos, among others, received the President of the Republic at Mongomeyen international airport.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to which VerAngola had access, this Thursday, the Council of Ministers of the Central African Peace and Security Council (COPAX) was held "on the political transition in the Gabonese Republic", thus preceding the V Extraordinary Session of the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of Central African States.

The meeting was chaired by the acting president of CEEAC, and hosted the ministers of the member countries of the aforementioned organization, "namely Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, DRC, Equatorial Guinea, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe and Chad".

At the event, the country was represented by a delegation led by the head of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, "integrated by Bertino Matias Matondo, General Director of External Intelligence Services, Jorge Catarino Cardoso, Director Africa, Middle East and Regional Organizations of the MIREX, Lizeth Nawanga Pena, Ambassador of Angola to Gabon and José Luís de Matos Agostinho, Ambassador of Angola to Equatorial Guinea".

According to the statement, the meeting focused "on information from special envoys on developments in ECCAS Facilitation in the Gabonese Republic".

The agenda also included "hearing from the Angolan ambassador Gilberto Veríssimo, president of the CEEAC Commission, the current status of the implementation of the decision regarding the temporary relocation of the CEEAC headquarters to Malabo", as well as "analyzing the agenda projects, from the communiqué final and the motion of thanks of the 5th Extraordinary Session of the COPAX Summit of Heads of State and Government".
