ANATA presents ‘Taxi On’, the application that will make taking a taxi safer

It’s called ‘Taxi On’ and it is an application dedicated to those who use this means of transport. In addition to allowing vehicle reservation and rental, the app provides the taxi driver's accreditation stamp, and in the event of a road accident, crime of kidnapping or theft, it is now possible to locate the vehicle and identify the driver from a smartphone .

The announcement of this platform was made this Wednesday by the president of the New Alliance of Angolan Taxi Drivers Association (ANATA), Francisco Patient, who presented the project during a meeting with the Minister of the Interior, Eugénio Laborinho.

'Taxi On' – which will be formally presented by the end of the month – allows the registration of taxi drivers in the database, the integration of financial and social services (insurance, mobile payments, credits) and also the booking and rental of taxis. According to Jornal de Angola, it will also be possible to find items forgotten in a vehicle, carry out GPS monitoring and report incidents to the Integrated Public Security Center (CISP).

In addition to wanting to reduce robberies and kidnappings involving supposed taxi drivers who are not – even allowing to know the taxi driver's accreditation stamp – the application also wants to regulate the activity, facilitating the control of the associates.

"We came to strengthen institutional relations, improve the relationship between police and taxi drivers and ask the minister to advocate, with the holder of Executive power, the approval of the law for the professionalization of taxi activity", said Francisco Patient, quoted by the same source.

The official also underlined that, in the future, all individuals wishing to work as a taxi driver must undergo a training period, after which the vehicle, driver and collector will be registered in the application, which is integrated into the CISP platform.

ANATA controls around 33,000 associated taxi drivers, 18,000 of which are from the province of Luanda.
