According to a statement to which Lusa had access, 31 proposals were received from all over the country, in the competition that ran from October 23 to November 6, with the six selected applications having interventions planned in the provinces of Luanda, Benguela and Lunda Sul.

The selected initiatives refer both to the support of projects already underway, with a view to strengthening a certain component that has an impact on the overall calculation of the project, as well as to the constitution of new projects, with a maximum amount of co-financing, for each selected project, of 3.5 million kwanzas (4355 euros).

The document informs that among the selected applications there are two proposals for "Access and Quality Education in the Rocha Pinto Neighborhood in the context of Covid-19", implemented by the congregation of the servants of Nossa Senhora de Fátima, in the school of the 1st cycle of education secondary school Luiza Andaluz, in Luanda, which with the support given will equip six new classrooms and benefit from more resources for the prevention of the new coronavirus pandemic.

The second project already underway "Todos para Todos", implemented by the Volontariato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo (VIS), an integrated action to strengthen health intervention in communities in the district of Rangel, in Luanda, in the scope of maternal and child health, from the perspective of prevention of covid-19 and its consequences in vulnerable groups.

Regarding the new projects, four proposals were selected, namely "Stop Covid-19", by the Friendship Group in Angola, also in Luanda, to reinforce the biosafety measures at the Nossa Senhora da Boa Nova Medical Nutrition Center and the Divina Hospital Providence.

The remaining projects, two in the health sector and one in education, will be implemented by Join Angola, with the project called "InfluenciArte", in Benguela, by Okulongisa, with the project "Training Program for the Manufacture of Soap and Alcohol Gel" , in Luanda, and by Mwana Pwo, with the project "Com Ela", in Lunda Sul.

The Small Projects Fund, made available by the Portuguese Cooperation Center, aims to minimize needs in the social domain - health and education, in particular - identified by civil society actors that, due to their nature and small size in budgetary terms, are not considered for other types of institutionalized support within the framework of Portuguese cooperation or other development partners.

Since 2018, Camões - Cooperation and Language Institute has had six Portuguese Cooperation Centers, close to the Portuguese embassies in Bissau, Dili, Luanda, Maputo, Praia and São Tomé.
