Angolan businessman Segunda Amões dies at 51

Entrepreneur Segunda Amões, creator of social projects, died today at the age of 51 from illness in South Africa, family sources said.

Born in the village of Camela, Huambo province, where he left one of his most promising projects, the businessman and chairman of the ASAS group's Board of Directors was trained in Petroleum Geology in the former USSR, with a bachelor's degree in Law and specializations in Management and Economy.

Segunda Amões, brother of the late Angolan businessman Valentim Amões, was the creator of the project "Aldeia Camela Amões", which he had planned to extend to the provinces of Benguela and Moxico.

The Integrated Project Aldeia Camões, located in the municipality of Cachiungo, province of Huambo, was developed by the ASAS group, and includes a health center, solar energy, social houses, and an industrial area to house bicycle, soy oil and water factories. mineral and tomato paste.

In October of this year, the businessman announced the project to build a sausage factory, in Aldeia Camela Amões, for the production of homemade chorizo ​​and pork, which should have started in March, but due to the pandemic, it was delayed, with plans to develop in parallel with the activity of fish farming, another bet.

Speaking to Angolan Public Television, Anastácio Gonçalves, a family member of the businessman, said that the moment is of consternation for the family, employees and collaborators, stressing that the project has helped several families.

According to Anastácio Gonçalves, the businessman started to feel bad in November, he was removed from the village to the city of Huambo and later to South Africa, where he died.

According to the project administrator, Armando Cachitoto, the first phase of the project started in 2014 and would go on until 2025, with the second phase expected to start in 2025 until 2035, in a dimension of 40 thousand hectares.

"It is unfortunate, but it has been said that men leave and deeds prevail, we are here side by side with the family to try to carry forward what remains," he said.
