Paul Ang indicated that the ambition to export cement will depend on the price and competitiveness of the international market.
The official, quoted by Angop, said that the price of cement did not increase, but this was adjusted according to the variation in consumption: "In dollarization, cement did not increase, quite the contrary, it fell by half of its original price in 2015, from 130 dollars a ton to 60 dollars today ".
The official, who was speaking during a meeting with the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Victor Fernandes, considered that this meeting was useful to present the difficulties that cement companies face to ensure a good functioning.
Among the difficulties pointed out by Paul Ang is the difficulty in finding funds for the maintenance of equipment and the purchase of inputs.
For this reason, the official asked the Government to help them through the reduction of customs duties, thus being able to bet on exports abroad.
The meeting also served to plan strategies to improve the business environment, he said.
In view of the problems presented, the minister said that these will be resolved in due time.
The five cement companies that make up AICA already export to São Tomé and Príncipe and Gabon and employ 4,500 people directly and around 9000 indirectly.
