Covid-19: country counted 42 new infections and one more death

The country registered 42 new infections by the new coronavirus and one more death, totaling 15,361 cases of covid-19, of which 352 resulted in deaths, health authorities announced this Thursday.

According to the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, 29 cases were registered in Luanda, four in Cabinda, the same number in Benguela and Uige, and one in Lunda Sul, with 28 men and 14 women affected, aged between 2 and 77 years.

In the last 24 hours, 105 people have recovered from the disease, making a cumulative of 8244 recovered patients.

Of the total number of cases, 6765 are active, of which six are in critical condition, the same number severe, 99 moderate, 147 mild and 6507 asymptomatic, with 258 patients being monitored at treatment centers.

In the last 24 hours, the laboratories processed 2509 samples, of which 42 were positive, representing a daily positivity rate of 1.7 per cent, while the cumulative figure points to 243,304 processed samples, of which 15,361 were positive, corresponding to a cumulative positivity rate of 6.3 per cent.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 1,495,205 deaths from more than 64.5 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a balance sheet made by the French agency AFP.

In Africa, there are 52,490 confirmed deaths in more than 2.1 million infected in 55 countries, according to the latest pandemic statistics on the continent.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected at the end of December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
