Covid-19: Police ask citizens to "redouble their care" in the festive season

The commander general of the police called this Thursday for citizens to "redouble their care" in obedience to the measures of the health authorities, due to covid-19, ensuring the safety of all citizens and their property in this festive season.

In a Christmas and New Year message, Paulo de Almeida recalled that this year, because of the pandemic, "there will not be the traditional Christmas and New Year's Eve celebrations", prohibited in light of the presidential decree on the Situation of Public Calamity.

The police commissioner general also appealed for "civism, the observance of healthy social coexistence", guaranteeing, however, "to make everyone responsible for acts of disobedience and others that disturb public order and tranquility".

"Let's make this festive season a moment of reflection, fraternity, social and family union and without excesses", he exhorted.

The police have mobilized their entire staff, more than 110,000 agents who make up the corporation, to ensure the festive season 2020 throughout the country.

Angola currently has 16,931 positive cases of covid-19.
