Government says suspension of credit lines left unfinished works

The Secretary of State for Budget and Public Investment admitted this Monday that the country has many works financed by unfinished lines of credit, including from Brazil, because the aid stopped, without any explanation.

Aia-Eza da Silva responded in the National Assembly to questions raised by deputies, during the discussion, in the specialty, of the proposed General State Budget (OGE) 2021.

She stressed that there are unfinished works in all sectors, many at 75 percent or 80 percent of their completion.

According to Aia-Eza da Silva, in some cases the government cannot even obtain "concrete feedback" on the reasons for the suspension of credit.

"Two days ago I gave an example, Brazil, out of nowhere, stopped. The [judicial inquiry] Lava Jacto began, stopped disbursing, and when we don't have the resources to continue paying, then the works really stop, some with 75 percent execution, others with 80 percent execution, but they stop," he pointed out.

The Secretary of State for Budget and Public Investment stressed that the Executive has made efforts to finish works under these conditions, as was the case with the recently inaugurated National Archive of Angola, in Luanda.

"[With] the historical archive, inaugurated Saturday, that's what happened, the line stopped from nowhere, the works were in the middle, we all saw the building there, but we couldn't finish paying and now this effort was made to see if the building was finished. Like this there are 'n' works along the whole territorial extension of our country," he said.

According to Aia-Eza da Silva, many works are deserving attention, namely hospitals, but it is not possible to conclude them at the same time, because "there are many pieces that give many billions".
