According to the news, advanced by the Portuguese weekly Expresso, the three banks will have proceeded with the process in the Judicial Court of the District of Lisbon, a month after having done the same against the subsidiary Winterfell 2, also held by the daughter of the former President of the Republic.
At stake are the 26.39 million euros borrowed in the scope of the deal that resulted in the purchase of the Portuguese Efacec, in 2015. The loan was granted to Isabel dos Santos, on behalf of Winterfell Industries, based in Malta. This holding company fully controls Winterfell 2, which is in turn controlled by the Portuguese company Niara Holding, headquartered in the Madeira Free Zone, and owned by Isabel dos Santos.
The Angolan businesswoman was a shareholder of Efacec through Winterfell 2, and this participation was nationalized due to the 'Luanda Leaks' case. An independent appraiser was appointed to stipulate the amount to be paid by the Portuguese State for the 72 percent of the company.
