Several factors were considered, such as the increase in its Tier 1 capital by almost 50 percent in 2019, the increase in assets by more than a third and the fact that it was able to update its core banking application remotely, with no visible impact for customers during the pandemic.
Although the price of oil remains low and the reduced availability of foreign currency has significantly affected the economy, the bank's strategy remains the same, says a statement sent to VerAngola by the institution. Thus, the objective is to increase the customer base with a sustainable and digitalized business.
At the same time, the bank wants to continue to invest in the development of its employees, aiming at a positive impact on the society in which it operates, adds the document.
As a goal, the bank aims to be "the most innovative in Angola". An important part of achieving this feat, they consider, is the application of solid and robust core banking that is updated annually.
Also recently, the bank launched a new credit solution called CreditJá (instant credit). Rather than applying for a loan at the branch and waiting for approval, private customers qualified for that purpose can apply online for pre-approved instant credit and obtain a decision in less than two minutes.
In the area of social responsibility and about two years ago, Standard Bank created the project Heróis de Azul, involving employees, customers and partners in improving public health. Today, it is estimated that the project has touched more than 38,000 lives, and the bank's employees have dedicated approximately 13,000 hours of volunteer work to the community.
