The provinces of Luanda and Benguela account for 57.6 percent of projects related to agriculture, manufacturing and poultry, according to a statement released by the Government.
The manufacturing industry has the largest share of the financing portfolio, around 53.8 percent, with projects diversified by the provinces of Huambo, Malanje, Uíge, Zaire, Cuanza Sul, Cabinda, Huíla, Namibe, Benguela and Luanda.
Within the scope of the Production Support, Export Diversification and Import Replacement Program (PRODESI), BAI provided a financing line of 66 billion kwanzas during the period 2019 and 2020.
Of this amount, 73.3 percent have already been used in the same period, which corresponds to a total of 48.4 billion kwanzas, to finance projects in the intra and intersectoral production chain of priority goods and services, under of the PAC.
Also in the current year, BAI has already approved a global package of 26 billion kwanzas, of which six projects have already been disbursed for an amount of 11 billion kwanzas, while others are in the process of formalization and disbursement.
Credit for 2021
The bank expects to make available a credit line of 73 billion kwanzas next year, taking into account the packages made in previous years under the Credit Support Project, including the 66 billion kwanzas made available this year.
For the conception of credit, BAI has encountered constraints related to the technical quality of the projects submitted to banking, the absence of market studies and distribution strategies, which guarantee the sustainability of the business.
The bank also notes a weak risk-sharing capacity on the part of entrepreneurs, since most of them do not accept or are unable to participate in projects with equity capital, and there are no guarantees for credit risk coverage, such as ownership of the company. Earth.
