According to a statement sent to VerAngola, the MCA Group, which owns Fazenda Mussinga, is developing an environmentally sustainable project, with visible results.
"The project, which develops the brand Fazenda Mussinga, contemplates the production of various agricultural crops and promotes fair trade with the local community", explains the note, adding that "around 20,000 coffee plants are transplanted daily from the nurseries to the land definitive, (4 to 5 hectares per week)".
According to the statement, it is expected that in the June 2022 harvest, around 60 tonnes of coffee will be obtained, "with part of which will be used to multiply in nurseries and the other to be sold".
The Mussinga region has a remote location and difficult access to large markets. For this reason, it was "essential to create a medium and long-term strategy centered on exports, based on judicious decisions about the crops to be developed and on the search for the most suitable solutions, taking into account local resources, to enhance production".
"The MCA Group thus incorporates, in this project, the aspiration to have a positive impact on local communities, combining the aspect of environmental sustainability", the note adds.
According to the note, the area of coffee planted at Fazenda Mussinga is currently 120 hectares, and with its "planting program it expects to reach 250 hectares by the end of 2022 with more than one million and three hundred thousand coffee plants".
It should be noted that the farm was present at the national coffee fair, which took place last November, with the theme "Angola Coffee Connecting the Cultures of the World".
