New gold mine in Chipindo employs more than 150 workers

Chipindo, in Huila province, was the stage for the most recent investment in national gold exploration. The second largest mine to enter production in the municipality was inaugurated this Wednesday by the minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino de Azevedo.

The bet belongs to Sociedade Mineira de Chicuamone, which installed a washing plant on site with a processing capacity of 150 tons of gold per hour. The mine also brought jobs to 150 workers, and it intends to produce 13,000 tonnes of ore per day.

This is the second gold extraction company to invest in the municipality of Chipindo, after Sociedade Mineira do Chipindo.

Cited by Angop, Diamantino de Azevedo stated that the project is still at an early stage, despite having already started production, with large growth margins due to the region's favorable geology.

The responsible for the mineral resources portfolio considered that the realization of this type of projects in the extractive industry is another step in the diversification of mining activity in the country, increasing reserves and promoting employment.

He also stated that the improvements to the quality of life of the community in the province are already visible, as the Gove / Chipindo road was repaired, in order to facilitate the movement of people and goods.

Also present at the opening of the mine was the governor of Huila, Nuno Mahapi, who noted that the municipality needs this type of development, highlighting the importance of the mining sector for the local and national economy.
