Marcy Lopes: unofficial electoral registration has more than nine million citizens

Since the unofficial voter registration process began in September, more than nine million identity card data have been transmitted to the Computer File for Citizens Over 18 years of age.

When carrying out a survey on the initial phase of unofficial electoral registration, Marcy Lopes, Minister of Territory Administration, indicated that a total of 9,441,513 data were transmitted.

The government official, quoted by Angop, also announced that 11,353 voter cards had been issued to people who live in places without a civil registry service, adding that more than 85,000 reference places were also recognized for mapping polling stations at the level national.

Marcy Lopes also made it known that his tutelage had accredited 2658 political party agents to monitor the process, as well as training 1788 civil servants to work at the Public Service Counters (BUAP), writes Angop.

He also mentioned the creation of a helpline to the public, with the aim of dispelling the population's doubts about the unofficial electoral process. The line (136) operates on weekdays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Saturdays from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The minister also referred that the citizen's card, which is issued by the BUAP, does not replace the voter card. However, he explained that the voters card will only be discontinued when it is no longer issued, since in the future it will have to be combined with the citizen's card.

Regarding the registration abroad, which starts next month, the minister said that the preparation for neighboring countries is being carried out in Angola and left the appeal to young people who were or are 18 years old before the elections to register.
